Lower Back Pain – Causes, Prevention & Treatment
Understanding Lower Back Pain
Aching back? You’re not alone
Half of all working Americans claim to have back pain symptoms each year according to the American Chiropractic Association. Back pain is also the second most common reason people see a doctor (number one is upper-respiratory infection) amongst men.
Four out of five people have had lower back pain at some point. As symptoms range from a dull ache to absolute agony, lower back pain can put your life on hold. It’s second only to the common cold in causing missed work days for adults under age 45.
Rest, the right exercise, and over-the-counter pain medications can relieve most lower back pains within a few days or weeks. But chronic back pain, defined as pain that persists for more than three months, is harder to treat.
